Happy Hour at the Tower
What is Happy Hour at the Tower?
Happy Hour at the Tower is Venture Out’s biannual open house. You’re invited to climb the Alpine Tower and Odyssey High Ropes Course! No experience necessary and no sign-up required. FREE with a University of Missouri ID.
Happy Hour is also open to the public for $5 per person (CASH ONLY). Kids ages 6-10 are free (see “Young Climbers” section below).
When is it?
The date for the next Happy Hour has not been set.
What do I bring?
Wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you can move around in, dress for the weather, wear a hairstyle you can wear a helmet with, bring a water bottle with water, and feel free to bring snacks!
Kids can climb too! Kids ages 6-10 are free. All participants under age 18 will need a parent to arrive with them, sign their waiver, and stay with them through the duration of the event.
Kids ages 6-10 will wear a kid-sized harness and climb the Alpine Tower only. We have a limited supply of kid-sized harnesses, so kids will take turns and may need to wait in line. Due to our limited supply of kid-sized harnesses, kids will only climb the Alpine Tower, not the Odyssey Course.
Directions & Parking
Visit our Location page for directions (Venture Out doesn’t always show up on a GPS). We’re located next to the Green Tennis Center and Epple Field off of Providence Road. Parking is available in the Reactor Lot (RP10). Do NOT park in the parking spaces with green-painted curbs (reserved for Tennis Center).
Shuttle from MU Campus
MU Students can take the 403 Reactor Loop bus from the MU Campus (outside of the Reynolds Alumni Center or outside Engineering Building West) to the Reactor Lot, and then walk up to Venture Out. The route runs every 10 minutes for the entire duration of the event.
Never climbed before?
That’s ok! Our facilitators will teach you everything you need to know about climbing the Alpine Tower and the Odyssey High Ropes Course. We provide a safe, fun environment for all participants.
Both the Odyssey Course and the Alpine Tower have additional challenges for experienced climbers. You set your own challenge level.
Check this page or our Facebook page for weather updates. The event may be cancelled in the event of bad weather.
You should not participate in high ropes activities if you are pregnant, have a heart condition or problem, have any pre-existing neck or back injuries especially with your spine, have had a recent organ transplant, or a doctor has recommended you do not participate.
Venture Out does have universally accessible high ropes options, though they may need to be set up ahead of time. Please contact us at email@example.com for questions about accessibility.
Venture Out offers on-the-ground teambuilding courses for people of all physical and cognitive ability levels. However, Happy Hour at the Tower focuses on our high ropes courses.
