Happy Hour at the Tower

What is Happy Hour at the Tower?

Happy Hour at the Tower is Venture Out’s biannual open house event. Come climb the Alpine Tower and Odyssey High Ropes Course! No experience necessary and no sign-up required. Free with a University of Missouri ID (students, faculty and staff).

Happy Hour is also open to community members for $5 per person (cash only please). Kids ages 6-12 are free. Anyone under age 18 will need a parent/guardian to arrive with them and sign a waiver, and then stay with them through the duration of the event.

When is it?

Happy Hour at the Tower will be will be Thursday, April 26, 2017 from 4-7 PM. It’s open house style– you can arrive any time between 4 and 7 PM. We will stop accepting participants at 7 PM.

What do I bring?

Wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you can move around in, dress for the weather, wear a hairstyle you can wear a helmet with, bring a water bottle with water, and feel free to bring snacks!

Young Climbers

Kids can climb too! Kids ages 6-10 are free. All participants under age 18 will need a parent to arrive with them, sign their waiver, and stay with them through the duration of the event.

Kids 10 and under will wear a kid-sized harness and climb the Alpine Tower only. We have a limited supply of kid-sized harnesses, so kids will take turns and may need to wait in line. Due to our limited supply of kid-sized harnesses, kids will only climb the Alpine Tower, not the Odyssey Course.

Never climbed before?

That’s ok! Our facilitators will teach you everything you need to know about climbing the Alpine Tower and the Odyssey High Ropes Course. We provide a safe, fun environment for all participants.

Experienced climber?

Both the Odyssey Course and the Alpine Tower have additional challenges for experienced climbers. You set your own challenge level.

Directions & Parking

Venture Out only has about 20 parking spots, and they will be first-come, first-serve. Only park in the parking spots with white curbs. DO NOT PARK IN SPACES WITH GREEN CURBS. Overflow parking will be available in the Reactor Lot (RP10).

Visit our Location page for directions (Venture Out doesn’t always show up on a GPS). We’re located next to the Green Tennis Center and Epple Field.

Don’t have a car? If you are coming from campus, you can take the Reactor Field Loop bus (403) to the Reactor Lot, which is a quick walk to Venture Out. This bus picks up at the intersection of 6th Street and Stewart Road, which is to the south of Engineering Building West and directly across the street from Lafferre Hall.

Inclement Weather

Check this page or our Facebook page for weather updates. The event may be cancelled in the event of bad weather.
