Rock Climbing 101

Course Overview
In this course you will learn the fundamentals of climbing, belaying, rappelling, guidebook interpretation, climbing ratings, etc. We will cover this information in a very hands-on format over the course of three evenings. You do not need previous experience to participate in this course. This course is not for academic credit, but it is open to anyone over the age of 13 (student or non-student).

Preparation
Come to class prepared to be outside. Wear comfortable clothes for climbing—nylon wind pants, shorts, etc. Bring a rain jacket, water bottle, snacks, sunscreen, etc. Barring a downpour, we will be outside.
Equipment
Venture Out will all necessary equipment for the course including Ropes, harnesses, carabineers, helmets, belay devices, and climbing shoes. For liability reasons you must use our equipment, but you are welcome to use your own shoes if you wish.
